What it is
Pre-commit stray-file detection with a typed classifier.
What it does: On git commit, classifies new paths and stops the commit prompt when Jev is confident a file is leftover junk or local-only material.
Why it belongs in the showcase: A narrow confidence-gated guardrail aimed at agent-generated scratch files that .gitignore and secret scanners miss.
Caveats: No labelled accuracy table; tracked-file edits are out of scope.
Evidence
Public MIT repo / pipx package. Local rules catch names such as .env first without sending them out; other new files get one Jev category (belongs, scratch/leftover, output dump, build output, local only) and are shown when confidence is at least 70% that the file does not belong. README states sub-second runs and a fraction of a cent per check, with result caching so the same file keeps the same answer.
Caveats
- Only inspects newly added files in the commit, not changes to already-tracked files
- No published false-positive rate on a labelled corpus in the README
- Needs a TypeSafe API key and Python 3.9+
